Buzzfeed’s profile piece on blues legend B.B. King puts a man of his era’s life in perspective for younger generations. The 89-year old King, born on a Mississippi sharecropping plantation in 1925, was found dead in his sleep Thursday night according to his attorney.
Over his lifetime, King, nicknamed the “King of Blues,” came a long way from that sharecropping plantation in Mississippi. 15 Grammy’s and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction are just two accomplishments to name a few. An advocate for Diabetes awareness, King announced on May 1 that he would be entering home hospice care at his Las Vegas home. As King is known all around the world for his touring, vocals, and ability to play his guitar “Lucille” like none other, King will be missed by fans everywhere. He recalled his experiences on many occasions, allowing all to recognize his jIourney from Rags to Riches. He will live on in spirit as fans mourn to timeless classics like “The Thrill Is Gone,” and “Every Day I Have the Blues.”
Rest In Paradise, BB King! 1925 – 2015
