Complex reports:

Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel both appeared in a Manhattan Supreme Court this morning where they were giving a trial start date of June 25. Both of the rappers, along with the rest of the GS9 crew, are currently being held in jail for a variety of charges that include conspiracy, murder, drugs, weapons, and more. Because of the larger size of the group of defendants, the trial is likely to be split into smaller groups, but both Rowdy, who’s real name is Chad Marshall, and Bobby, real name Ackquille Pollard, lawyers have asked that they be placed in the first group to speed up the process. “This is a show and [the prosecutors] have to justify the show,” Pollard’s lawyer Kenneth J. Montgomery said. “At the trial we’ll see what this is really about.”

This is the first real news about the proceedings of the trial moving forward since the group was booked last December. At one point there was hope that Pollard was going to post his $2 million bail in the case, but it hasn’t happened yet, and thus he’s remained at Rikers Island with Marshall. Since he’s been in jail, Pollard has expressed countless frustrations with Epic Records for not posting his bail, and he even said that if and when he gets out, he’s going to try and get out of his deal. We will continue to update this story when more details emerge.
