Update: DMX Checks Himself Into Rehab After Cancelling Concerts Due To Medical Emergency

We knew something looked off about DMX during the Ruff Ryders Reunion Tour. Even known for being a bit extra, concertgoers all seemed a bit concerned about the health and wellbeing of the Dog. It seems now that those concerns may have been justified. X has cancelled a concert in Santa Ana, CA due to an unnamed medical emergency. Los Angeles and San Diego dates have also been postponed as a result of the same emergency. This puts into question, will the rapper be able to headline the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, along with The Lox, in July? While that’s quite some time away, we really don’t know the status of his health and medical condition.

While no details are being released, X is notoriously known for his struggles with drug abuse, which predate his career. Attendees of the Reunion tour last weekend stated their concern that he was performing under the influence. The reality is the Dark Man is in his late 40s and with the level of damage he has potentially done to himself and his body, some serious changes need to be made in order to maintain his health, wellness, and continuing ability to perform. All that aside, he needs to make changes so that he can live!

Get it together, X. We’re praying for you.

UPDATE: Thursday night, DMX checked himself into rehab facility in Southern California. His manager, Pat Gallo, said in a statement:

“It is important right now that he take some time off to focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer…We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support.”
Still no word, as of yet on his potential headlining of the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival in July, nor any other scheduled concerts. However our thoughts and prayers are with the rapper as he continues his battle with addiction. We’re with you, X.
