Early Sunday morning after performing at a Brooklyn nightclub, Lionel Pickens, the rapper known as Chinx, was shot at least eight times by an unknown gunman. Police are now in search of the gunman. Chinx and a passenger had been driving to a bar that ended up being closed. As he was in pursuit to drop the passenger to a nearby subway station, the gunman approached Chinx car in his vehicle and began opening fire at 4:04am according to a local New York news station- ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
Chinx’ passenger had also been hit in the back, puncturing his lung, but is listed in stable condition. Chinx was then able to move his vehicle, hitting a parked car, and then it seemed to be somewhat of a fight for his life. He must have opened his door as an eyewitness Raymond Rivera recalled Chinx fall to the ground, laying their motionless. Witnesses at the nightclub Chinx had performed at earlier that night did not notice any signs of distaste with the artist whose claim to fame was his membership in French Montana’s “Coke Boys.” It is unclear who would want to kill the 31-year old rapper who was known for his dedication, humor, and vision.
