Rich Homie Quan has seemingly landed himself in some hot water this past weekend when he was arrested for alleged possession of drugs and stolen guns.
En route to a concert in Wadley, GA on Saturday, May 27, the Atlanta native’s van was stopped and searched at a checkpoint. Quan, along with five other members of his entourage were taken into police custody in Jefferson County. Sources say they believe the drugs found were weed and ecstasy.
In his arraignment yesterday, May 31, Quan was formerly charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and will be held in the Jefferson County Jail until his bond hearing, this Friday, June 2. And while the exact amount the Rich Homie allegedly had on him, he has the misfortune of being arrested in the state of Georgia, which has particularly strict drug laws. Anything over an ounce is considered a felony. No mention has been made, however, about the stolen gun alleged to have been confiscated by police during the initial arrest. But, it is being said that Quan could face up to 30 years as a result of the charges he is facing. Hopefully, it won’t come to that.
This arrest comes just months after Quan, in an interview with XXL, expressed a desire to make some changes in his life, as well as in the image he was projecting of himself:
“….definitely a new chapter. I wouldn’t say a reinvention but I’ve re-centered myself…. I’ve gotten older, watching what I say because I know the previous years I’ve gotten in trouble. And I know everybody’s listening now so with everybody listening, I just want to make sure I can motivate you…. I’m trying to encourage you to get up and be somebody, do something…”
RHQ signed a deal with Motown back in February and released a mixtape, Back to Basics, back in April. He’s currently slated to also release a new album in July with anticipated features from Lil Wayne, Ashanti, Boosie Badazz and Jadakiss, entitled Rich in Spirit.
