New releases at the box office this month have proved to be no match for the N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton as the critically acclaimed film enjoys its third-straight week in the No. 1 spot.

In fact, the F. Gary Gray-directed tale of the rise of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E has actually been downright ugly for some of the competition.

The new EDM-themed, Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski film, We Are Your Friends, reportedly had one of the worst box office openings of all-time (say it with a Kanye voice) with just $1.8 million in its opening weekend.

“This was a passion project for Zac Efron, and we believe in him,” Warner Bros. executive VP for domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Yes, the result was disappointing, but this was a small film.”

The past weekend saw Straight Outta Compton reach yet another milestone with its $134.1 million total gross, which was enough to surpass Joaquin Phoenix’s Johnny Cash performance in Walk the Line to become the highest-grossing music biopic of all-time.

The surviving members of the N.W.A are also riding high with their first ever Hot 100 entry on the Billboard Charts with the titular track, “Straight Outta Compton.”
